The Herman Bouma Fund for Gerontechnology Foundation has been established in honour of the emeritus status of prof. dr. Herman Bouma, March 26, 1999.

The foundation has the objective to stimulate the further development of Gerontechnology, both national and international. The foundation will support young, promising researchers in this area with yearly grants for travelling or research scholarships. Furthermore, the foundation will promote other activities directly or indirectly related to the objective mentioned-above.

For more than 20 years, the Herman Bouma Foundation has supported young and promising researchers in the domain of Gerontechnology. The available funds have been allocated. The Herman Bouma Foundation will be terminated early 2022 – the foundation is “in liquidation”.


In de afgelopen 20 jaar heeft de Herman Bouma Foundation jonge en veelbelovende onderzoekers in het domein van de Gerontechnologie ondersteund. De beschikbare middelen zijn toegewezen. Het Herman Bouma Fonds voor Gerontechnologie wordt begin 2022 opgeheven – de stichting is in liquidatie.

Prof. dr. Herman Bouma (1934) was director of the Institute for Gerontechnology at Eindhoven University of Technology from 1994 through 1999. He studied physics and partly medicine in Utrecht and completed his Ph.D. study at Eindhoven University of Technology in 1965.
